Having a yeast infection is not any fun at all, but when you have recurring yeast infections, you are likely ready to take some serious steps towards curing yourself for good. Most people will relate a yeast infection to the vagina. However, yeast infections can occur in areas throughout the body in both men and women. They are common in the vagina and bladder, but they may also crop up in the mouth, in a condition called thrush, as well as in the intestine and even in a more serious systemic infection that can make you seriously ill. Candidiasis is a type of fungal infection that is characterized by overgrowth of Candida in the body. Candida albicans is the most common specie that causes Candidiasis. Candidiasis may come in form of oral thrush, vaginitis and sometimes could lead to yeast-intolerance that can be life-threatening.
Candidiasis occurs when there is an over growth of the candida fungi inside the body, thus upsetting the normal balance of good and bad bacteria. There are beneficial bacteria inside the body which can balance the growth of the candida fungi, however, if the good bacteria are not encouraged enough to grow at a faster rate, then a yeast infection will result. Usually, a yeast free diet is recommended to prevent candidiasis symptoms from worsening. These treatments are usually temporary until the dormant yeast colonies, unaffected by the creams, start the infection all over again.
Yeast is influenced significantly by the vagina’s natural pH balance, which fluctuates monthly with the natural hormonal rhythms. The best time to treat a yeast infection is during menstruation, when the yeast is most active, and most vulnerable to treatments.
Candidiasis can occur whenever the amount of yeast in the vagina grows out of control. Whenever the quantity of yeast is more than the quantity of healthy bacteria, an infection can occur. For instance, if you were to take an antibiotic to treat some other type of infection, the protective bacteria that ordinarily keeps the yeast in check will be destroyed. As a result, the yeast will grow rapidly and cause irritation. You will then have to find a candidiasis treatment to help with the symptoms.
